We want to hear what you have to say but need to verify your account. Boring, trite, sexist tripe that wants to make the viewer empathize with a guy who's actually pretty aggressive in his pursuit of loserdom. Cinemark Justin Long is a capable actor, who does admirable work at trying to realize Adam, and a ream of recognizable faces in the rest of the cast have their individual moments.

He has some organizational problems.

Allison, voicing a thought that a lot of women have every day, says, “I can’t tell if you’re charming or just an a—hole,” and the truth, in this case, is clearly both. “Ambush? “Literally, Right Before Aaron” keeps popping off comic bubbles of suspense, all emerging from the question: What scam is this half-crazy broken-down player going to pull next? The percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who have given this movie a positive review. Too spiritually in sync with its passive, wishy-washy protagonist. The scenario Allison proposes ends, “and he dies … alone … of AIDS.” Cute. Don't have an account? We look and laugh, but soon that goes away.

| Rating: D+ Cobie Smulders is a marvelous actress who plays Allison with a knowing wisp of a bohemian smile that tells the audience, in every scene, that she sees right through Adam, but also that she could have imagined a life with him. But then there’s this weird attempt to back things up but never peer in – to show flashbacks from Adam and Allison’s relationship. The image is an example of a ticket confirmation email that AMC sent you when you purchased your ticket. Allison invites him to the wedding.

Its recognition of the pain of enduring will keep it stuck in your head for days. April 28, 2017 by Kelsie Gibson. Literally, Right Before Aaron (2017) User Reviews (49) Spoilers.

(The pic's awkward title is telling us: No, literally, Adam is the guy who dated Allison right before Aaron!

He invites our sympathy - especially when contrasted with the smarmy Aaron - but doesn't really deserve it. ©  Talented cast can't save mature, uneven romantic dramedy. The presumption is that the film will allow him to go through this awkward situation and emerge with a better understanding of himself, other people and the world around him. Washed away in memories, sullied by the sands of time.

But don’t listen to them; they’re being way too moralistic.

Literally. He says to her, “Do you want to get a coffee, or a juice, or a soda ... ” She replies, “I’m reading my book.”.

A year and a half ago, Long's Adam split with his girlfriend of eight years, Allison (Cobie Smulders).

Saying this, he’s poking his finger at her in a way that comes close to actual assault. The movie opens with Adam getting the invitation to the wedding, by phone. But God, is Adam supposed to be better? The notion that true love can survive a relationship's death, being reborn through some grand gesture — run to that airport, kid!

is adapted from a short film. Terrible plot. But I don’t think that Literally, Right Before Aaron’s intentions are so malicious. The couple is trying to out-gross-out each other by concocting imaginary crimes against their fellow restaurant patrons. As this far-fetched scenario plays out, the primary characters lack both sympathy and charm, not to mention logic. Aaron is a straw man: Tan and toothy, almost a pro tennis player, he's a fictional construct designed to earn our disdain.

The real loser is still our hero.

“Dude.

He gets drunk at the wedding and dances like a jerk; he tells a nine-year-old boy to “call me when you’ve got some hair on your balls”; he does some indirect looks-shaming of a character played by Kristen Schaal, and much, much more. It's tonally confused to the point of incoherence.
