Much like Emin’s previous work, which is intensely personal and usually reflects the artist’s inner world, the seven-part diary gives us an insight into her daily life and changing moods. Tracey Emin, Thriving On Solitude, 2020 As early as 1998, Emin referenced Munch in both the title and location of the film work HOMAGE TO EDVARD MUNCH AND ALL MY DEAD CHILDREN, which opens with a naked Emin curled in a foetal position on a wooden jetty on the edge of the Oslo Fjord in Asgardstrand where Munch painted several well-known works. Titled ‘I Thrive On Solitude’, the exhibition features a series of intimate paintings created at her East London home during lockdown – and, as is often the case with Emin’s work, each one offers a deeply personal glimpse into her life.
