I was fortunate enough to have received the record fairly early in the day, so I wasted no time in trying out the new tunes that I have been looking forward to with quite some anticipation after loving last year's debut album of mainly covers. Totally recommended if you enjoy raw Rock N Roll. Great album.

Junkyard is one of the many bands who got dropped by their record company in the early '90s because they didn't sound like Nirvana. Whether its the fact that this group contains 2 former Black Crowes (Rich Robinson and Marc Ford) which gives The Magpie Salute its signature sound is worth noting, or the high-octane energy that comes with it, you will love this CD. If you have their other work do not hesitate to pick this up. They have also had the privilege to perform at the Berkeley Bluegrass Festival and Good Old Fashioned Festival, and have appeared a number of times at The Freight & Salvage. The Psychological Gesture, The group went on to sell out four consecutive nights at The Gramercy in January 2017. There’s not a weak song on the album and I’m looking forward to catchy g them live…as well as the next album they cut. You won't be disappointed.

This is Junkyard through and through but maybe slightly matured. I can listen to every song & not skip a track! Acclaim came from Guitar World, Relix, and more, while Rolling Stone summed it up succinctly as “Explosive.” By the time they retreated to Dark Horse Studios in Nashville with Robinson in the producer’s chair, the vision crystallized with the six-person lineup. It may not be on par with their first two albums, but I still enjoy listening to it. As much as the group represents a musical union of swaggering rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelic blues, and campfire-worthy storytelling, it also marks a reunion of musicians whose paths twisted and turned right back to each other. I was surprised on the plus side by this - it’s more wide ranging stylistically than expected and surpasses the Crowes vibe I was expecting.
