Sugar Hill is set on a gentle slope opposite Royal Westmoreland in St James and slightly inland from the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and Colony Club hotels. The staff, as to be expected with this beautiful island, were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Set amidst lush private gardens and exotic fruit trees, Firefly enjoys stunning views over the landscaped hillside of the Sugar Hill resort and the Caribbean Sea beyond. We have been very happy living on the Sugar Hill complex ever since and look forward to many more wonderful times here. The Spa at Colony Club is available for everyone to enjoy a relaxing facial and massage, or take a short stroll onto the quiet beach in front of Colony Club. Sand Piper Restaurant: Nestled by torch lit tropical gardens and tranquil koi ponds, this elegant restaurant brings you eclectic food with a Caribbean flair. The Sugar Hill complex is real luxury and the 2 pools are fantastic, especially the infinity pool! Located within the fabulous Sugar Hill Resort at St James on the West Coast of Barbados, Apartment 206 is on the first floor, overlooking the free-form swimming pool and well-maintained gardens.
Tennis courts (on site): Championship Tennis facilities provide residents and guest the very best environment for tuition, practice and competitive play. The louvered doors allowed a breeze to flow throughout the apartment, which meant we did not use the air conditioning. The ceiling fans create sufficient airflow at night to allow for restful. The home offers a large central reception room leading out to an expansive covered terrace, overlooking the full-size swimming pool and the west coast. All bedrooms are en suite and air-conditioned with ample cupboard and storage space. Rates are subject to applicable VAT. There is a bbq provided, which tops off the self catering very well. The downstairs has bedrooms that lead out to a beautiful garden with a plunge pool and more seating. Sugar Hill is a world-class residential community and a large team is kept busy ensuring it looks its best. The security staff were friendly and soon got to know us, and the maid was really friendly and delighted that we loved her country so much.
Calliaqua caters comfortably for up to 10 guests with its four elegantly designed en-suite bedrooms and delightful one bedroom cottage. A separate one-bedroom guest cottage with an en-suite bathroom, kitchenette, and private terrace are located in the garden. Colony Club: This exquisite hotel provides three onsite dining restaurants and bars. There are more places to choose from in the Mount Standfast area. Totally private estate, restaurant and bar on site, bit disappointed however in May to find only open on out of season hours which was a bit annoying, never mind. The restaurant offers a wonderful waterfront dining experience for all to enjoy. The Sunset Bar and Deck restaurant has several theme nights perfect for the entire family and has a seafood and continental cuisine. You can stroll onto the covered terrace, enjoy the view or take a dip in the expansive 2,000 sq ft pool. We have had a fantastic last 10 days staying at Star Gazer. Firefly enjoys stunning views over the landscaped hillside of Sugar Hill and the Caribbean Sea beyond. But the roof terrace with jacuzzi, bbq and sun loungers is fantastic, with stunning views (very romantic at sun set and for 'star gazing').
